Application of induction heating technology

2024-03-22
Induction heating, as a new subject, has been truly applied in the past 30 years. In today’s energy shortage, its importance appears to be particularly prominent, technology is rapidly improving, and its applications are becoming more and more extensive. China began to develop High frequency induction heating machine heating technology after the reform and opening up, and its application prospects are very promising.

1. Features of induction heating
(1) The heating temperature is high, and it is non-contact heating.
   (2) High heating efficiency.
   (3) Fast heating speed.
   (4) The temperature is easy to control.
   (5) It can be heated locally.
       (6) It is easy to realize automatic control.
  (7) Good working environment, almost no noise and dust.
  (8) The work area is small and the production efficiency is high.
  (9) It can heat complex-shaped workpieces.
  (10) The workpiece is easy to heat evenly, and the product quality is good.
  (11) The solution has electromagnetic stirring effect during smelting. The composition of the molten metal can be adjusted uniformly, and the temperature of the solution is uniform without local high temperature. Metal burns less, which is more important for smelting rare metals.

2. Advantages of induction heating
The first is low energy consumption. The actual billet heating efficiency of induction melting furnaces and induction diathermy furnaces can reach 65% to 75%, while flame furnaces and various chamber furnaces are only about 30%.

Second, this type of furnace does not require the necessary preheating process such as coal furnace, gas furnace and resistance furnace. It is convenient to use and simple to operate. It can work continuously for a long time and can be turned on or off at any time as needed. It can be fully manual or fully automatic. Or semi-automatic work, which can have absolute advantage in production scheduling.

Third, there is no need to heat the workpiece as a whole, and local heating can be selected, so the electric power consumption is small, the deformation of the workpiece is small and the heating speed is fast, which can make the workpiece reach the required temperature in a very short time, thereby oxidizing and decarburizing the surface of the workpiece When heating defects are reduced to a very low level, it can be used for steel, tungsten, molybdenum and other steel materials, and can also be used for heating or heat treatment of chemically active aluminum, titanium, zirconium, and niobium.

Fourth, the induction heating equipment can be installed on the production line, which is easy to realize the automation and mechanization of the production line, is easy to manage, can effectively reduce transportation, save manpower, and improve production efficiency.

Fifth, induction heating also has the advantages of high power utilization, environmental protection and energy saving, safety and reliability, and good working environment.

Based on the above advantages, when electric energy replaces coal, oil, gas and other non-renewable energy sources in the heating field, it is gradually becoming the dominant energy source. Induction heating is increasingly used in smelting, heating and other fields. Electric heating, especially induction heating, is widely used. Very broad application prospects, induction heating equipment manufacturers have broad development space.

3. Application in automobile manufacturing
The vigorous development of the auto industry has brought unprecedented development opportunities to the auto parts industry. Induction heating technology is also being used more and more widely in the field of automobile manufacturing.

In terms of smelting, casting is a metal processing method that is easy to shape. The casting method can be used to make parts of various sizes and complex shapes on automobiles. It can be said that the best use is made in the development of the automobile industry. Almost all casting processes can do their best in the automobile industry. The main smelting processes used in the production of cast auto parts at home and abroad are cupola smelting process, intermediate frequency induction electric furnace smelting process and cupola-medium frequency induction electric furnace dual smelting process. Induction melting furnaces are also gaining in the foundry industry due to their technical advantages. Increasingly widely used.

In terms of heating, according to statistics, in the former Soviet Union, induction heat-treated parts in the automobile industry accounted for 40% to 45% of heat-treated parts. Induction heating technology has been developed to this day, and its application and development degree are self-evident.

Induction heating technology is mainly used in the following fields in the automotive industry:
   (1) Smelting of metals.
   (2) Heating of forging blanks.
   (3) Heat treatment of auto parts.
   (4) Induction heating curing of auto parts after bonding.
   (5) Induction heating semi-solid forming.
   (6) Induction heating assembly.
   (7) Induction heating brazing.

4. The status quo of induction heating abroad
With the development of power semiconductor devices and the continuous development of power electronic technology, the appearance of induction heating devices is also changing with each passing day, especially the changes in the volume, quality, and performance of the device. For example, the transistor type frequency conversion device of the same capacity is reduced by 2/3 in volume, 2/3 in weight, 1/2 in cooling water, 1/3 in power consumption, and 35% in efficiency compared with the tube-type frequency conversion device. It has a longer service life, is safer and more reliable, and is easy to realize automatic control. It is helpful to improve heating efficiency and quality. It has a smaller maintenance workload and can be opened when used.

The technological development and application of induction heating devices in industrially developed countries such as Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and Russia are in the forefront of the world.
