What are the main purposes of induction quenching of mechanical parts?

2024-03-18

(1) Improve the surface wear resistance of parts

Induction quenching was originally applied to the surface of crankshaft neck, its purpose is to improve the wear resistance of the journal, before the crankshaft is used in the quality adjustment, High frequency induction heating machine quenching makes the wear resistance of crankshaft neck greatly improved.

(2) Improve the fatigue strength of parts

The further application of induction quenching is to improve the fatigue strength of quenched parts. For example, under the condition of ±3000N.Another example is that the original process of ball head pin of steering knuckle is 18CrMnTi steel carburizing and quenching, then 45 steel induction quenching is used, the bending fatigue life of the parts is increased from 80,000 times to more than 2 million times. The fatigue strength of crankshaft is doubled by the induction quenching of crankshaft fillet; The crankshaft fatigue strength of some products reaches more than 700MPa.

(3) Reduce distortion

Carburizing gear due to long process time, after quenching distortion; And gear induction quenching, especially synchronous dual frequency (SDF) gear quenching, process time is short, distortion is small, so that the gear precision is improved, noise reduction.

(4) Energy saving, material saving, labor saving and environmental protection

Low hardenability steel is used to manufacture gears and other parts, and induction quenching. It is steel above all without alloy element, saved material cost;Induction heating is the local heating quenching, short time, so greatly energy saving;Induction quenching can realize automatic online production, which saves labor. No oil pollution, no harmful gas emissions, more environmental protection.

(5) Replace deep carburizing

Deep carburizing is a process with long cycle and large power consumption. In recent years, induction quenching has been successfully developed to replace deep carburizing in foreign countries.
